Can't we just all get along?

The healthcare debate continues to heat up, inside and outside of church communities. Personally, I am sick of the hatefulness on both sides. Having an opinion is fine, but expressing it with disdain toward the other party is not loving. Read what Brian McLaren has to say on this topic:

I use Twitter a lot, and one of my favorite webcomic creators had some great (completely tongue in cheek) "Under Obama Care" "facts" satirizing the more aggressive conservative positions:

"Under ObamaCare you will be forced to compete for your medication in a combination Double Dare/Thunderdome arena. #obamacarefacts"

"Under ObamaCare, the CIA will replace the prozac in your tap water with its generic #obamacarefacts"

"under ObamaCare, Twitter will be replaced by a button on your computer that MURDERS THE INFIRM #obamacarefacts"

--I don't know, but I thought you might appreciate those a little bit. I didn't vote for him, but that had nothing to do with health-care reform. And I think satire is a healthy response to extremism.

I think a compassionate and well-reasoned response is also healthy, and I've never wanted to hug Brian McLaren more than when I just read that article.

Love it. Satire is such therapy.
